A Day In The Life

So today I took pictures, of just a typical day here in Arizona. We usually start our day off with a walk to the park.

After swimming, around 4 we usually head out for an outing. Anything to get out of the heat.

And then pretty much reading, TV, and blogging (;

Classic Maria.

So Maria won’t eat her supper, Dawson is bantering with her about how she has to eat supper to get ice cream.

Dawson says something witty and then goes: “Oh burn Maria, BURRRRN!!!”

Maria starts to cry and says: “Mooom, Dawson said ‘Burn!’ but I’m not burning!”

Pictures–Day 1

Here are some pictures from our first day here, starting with pictures taken while driving through Las Vegas, and ending with Kate and I this morning.

^ This is the bridge going over Hoover Dam. Last year we drove over it, this year we decided to stop and go to the visitor lookout a.k.a. pay $7 to park and stand in the parking lot to look at the dam (you have the option to pay for a tour to get closer). It was pretty spectacular, but a huge hassle – let’s just say security there is a little tight.

The frontside, as much of it as I can get…

I’m gonna go swim now and finish my Starbuck’s Passion Tea Lemonade….when she asked if I wanted it sweetened, I almost went crazy, because they’re already so sweet. NOTE TO SELF: In the States, the Iced Tea has NO SUGAR!!

Once Upon Arrival.

You know, after the show ended I was sooo depressed. Still depressed. Never ending depression. And then we got to Las Vegas. We didn’t even stop there, but that’s where the palm trees started to appear more and more frequently. Las Vegas is when the sun came out for good, and we had to turn on air conditioner.

Las Vegas is also where I couldn’t feel anything below my waist anymore. Bleeeeh.

I’m cool with 27 nonstop hours in a vehicle yo, but seriously this is barely what I’d call traveling. More like…confinement in a mobile torture chamber with screaming kids, loud episodes of Caillou, and the inability to move. I was literally immobilized in the backseat with Dawson and Alexa at each other constantly, Maria whining for Kleenex, and Kate letting out little squawks to alternate with all of the above.

If you just let me have some leg, arm, head, and breathing room I’d be down for the driving. Yet, nay. And this time I couldn’t sleep. And I just realized that I got totally side tracked with complaints. This was supposed to be a positive post for crying out loud!

We’re here now, in Phoenix. That’s the important thing. Alllllll of the torture I endured, now paid off. Because, we opened the door to the rented house and. Wooooow. Beautiful. The walkway into the house, are stepping stones over a little pond. The pool is HUGE. There’s an outdoor fountain. A beautiful fire-pit poolside. Walking distance to everything including the huge basilica where we’ll be going to church.

It was so weird to be driving on slushy, snowy, cold roads yesterday, and then drive all night and wake up to palm trees.

Now you see, I didn’t sleep at all overnight, but if you were a little girl, you went to sleep in Idaho where there were snow on the mountain tops and you were wearing a warm jacket; and then the next thing you knew, you woke up in St. George Utah, the first palm trees. The town of outlet shopping. Las Vegas = 3 hours.

We ate at Denny’s for breakfast, though we had planned on eating IHOP. Daaaanngggg, no IHOP in St. George.

Now I’m actually watching The Bourne Ultimatum right now and something really exciting is about to happen because the music is building like in Jaws. I haven’t really been paying attention so maybe I should jump back into the movie.

Pictures tomorrow? I’ll try (:

Mischievous Mustaches of…Me?

So, we leave tomorrow around lunchtime to Arizona.

Goodbye.

But, I’ll still be blogging. Because. That will be about the extent of my social life.

Here you go, a going away present?
